JP's Scripture Search: A Powerful Tool

The programming group at SemoDesignTeam recognized that one of the most important uses of a database of articles is the ability to search them. But searching for a specific scripture reference presented distinctly unique challenges:

1. Different abbreviations used for the books of the Bible (i.e. Matthew, Mt, Mt., Mat, Mat., Matt, Matt.). Searching for Matthew 16:19 would need to locate every scripture referenced no matter how it was abbreviated.

2. Articles that reference a series of scriptures from the same book (i.e., Luke 1:3, 2:4, 6:2). The verse 2:4 doesn't follow the word Luke, it would not show up in a typical search for Luke 2:4.

3. Searching by a single scripture and finding articles that references a passage (i.e., the article references 10:1-16 and you are searching for 10:4).

4. Searching for a passage and finding articles that reference a single scripture within that passage (i.e., article references 10:5 and you are searching for 10:1-7).

Our programmers designed a system that allows every scripture referenced within an article to be logged no matter how it is displayed in the article. So the next time you are studying the Bible or preparing to teach on a passage, do a JP Scripture Search and gain even more insight into the words.
