Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Final Four
The Maccabi Tel-Aviv basketball team has made it to the Final Four! On Thursday night (April 18) Maccabi turned in its best performance of the season to crush Spain's Tau Vitoria 94-65 and reach European basketball's ultimate event.
The Final Four will be held in Bologna on May 3-5. In the semifinals, Maccabi will be pitted against Panathinaikos of Athens, the same team it defeated last year to win the European championship. Maccabi or Panathinaikos will play the winner of the other semifinal game between the Italian clubs Kinder Bologna and Benetton Treviso.
The defending cup holder, Tel-Aviv, is making its third consecutive trip to the Final Four. If Maccabi can win just two more games, it will take the European championship for the fourth time, having won in 1977, 1981 and 2001.
