Pesach, the Anniversary of Our Ancestors' Exodus from Egypt

Spring has arrived in all its glory. The weather is beautiful. The countryside, a brilliant green from a distance, when examined close up, is ablaze with wild flowers. After record rainfall during the winter, the Sea of Galilee, down approximately fifteen feet at the end of the summer, is now almost full--this even though Mekorot, the national water company, is pumping water out of the lake and into the underground aquifers as fast as possible. (So far, Mekorot has pumped out thirty million cubic meters.)

Pesach (Passover) has come. We remember our spiritual ancestors' exodus from Egypt. We remember that God passed over the families that had applied the blood to their doorframes (Exod 12), and once again we give thanks to our Heavenly Father for passing over our sins because of the blood of Jesus (Rom 3:23-25; Eph 1:7; 2:13; Heb 9:14; Rev 1:5). That blood is still a sign in our lives and, seeing it, God forgives us and puts our sins, the sins that nailed Jesus to a cross, out of his memory. Walking in the light (1 John 1:7), we will not be required to pay the necessary price for our former disobedience and selfishness. Jesus paid it for us. "What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!"
