Fifth Annual Jerusalem School Symposion

Thousands of biblical scholars converged on San Antonio the week before U.S.'s Thanksgiving holiday. Forty-six of those were part of the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research and stayed in town an extra day for the Fifth Annual JS Symposion.

Just before the Thanksgiving holiday every year, thousands of biblical scholars converge on a North American city for the annual Society of Biblical Literature-North American Congress (SBL). This year, that city was San Antonio, Texas.

Five years ago, it was decided that the Jerusalem School would hold a one day event on the last day of SBL. This year's Fifth Annual JS Symposion event was better than ever and we had the highest attendance as well: nine Jerusalem School members; eleven Associate members; five spouses; four colleagues, four Patron members; and five from our two Alliance Partner organizations.

Twelve presentations were made during the weekend by our members and associate members in different sections of the SBL congress, that also is a Jerusalem School record. Jerusalem Perspective's publisher, David Bivin, presented two papers (one on the Petros-Petra Wordplay and one on the Cleansing of the Temple) and he was spectacular.

It is important that the Jerusalem School members interact with other scholars and this is one of the best venues for interaction. With the upcoming publication of our first volume of a four-volume series, next year's Symposion will be even more exciting and filled with celebration.

Become a Patron, get involved and you too can join us at next year's Jerusalem School SYMPOSION in the lovely City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia!

What A Success!!!
