David Bivin's 2006 Workshops
Announcing...
David Bivin's 2006 Workshops
For twenty-six years David and Josa Bivin have conducted workshops and seminars for fellow disciples of Jesus. This year's tour will feature workshops in England and the United States. An intensive educational program, each workshop will focus on difficult-to-understand (and apply) sayings of Jesus. Plan now to attend and be personally challenged by Jesus' life-giving words.
Workshop instructor: David Bivin. Fluent in Hebrew, Bivin, a specialist in the Semitic and Jewish background of the Gospels, has lived in Israel for more than 40 years. He distills his years of study of Jesus' instruction into two days (fourteen hours) of interactive study. No previous preparation is required. The workshop is designed for ordinary followers of Jesus.
Workshop theme: "Exploring the Jewish and Hebraic Background to Twenty-five Difficult Sayings of Jesus."
Last fall's workshops greatly blessed those who attended. Read workshop participant Nancy Johnsen's words.
The 1992 workshop theme was "New Light on the Words of Jesus: Twenty-five Difficult Sayings Explored from the Perspective of the Hebrew Language Background." In the 2006 workshop we will explore twenty-five more sayings of Jesus. This will be an in-depth study of twenty-five of Jesus' most enigmatic sayings.
Among the passages to be covered in the two-day workshop:
- "When you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" (Matt 6:3).
- "And whoever will speak a word against the Son of Man it will be forgiven him, but it will not be forgiven to the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit" (Luke 12:10).
- "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you" (Matt 7:6).
- "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters." (Matt 12:30; Luke 11:23).
- "Let the dead bury their own dead" (Luke 9:60).
- "If someone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother...he cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:26).
